What Pet Insurance Covers

When the topic of pet insurance comes up many people shrug it off as only being helpful during an unexpected emergency situation. This would include such things as a major illness or injury, which of course, is not something a puppy owner wants to think about. But just as with humans, if you postpone purchasing insurance until your pet is older and you think you might need it, you may find it is more expensive, or you may find your pet is excluded entirely, because of his age.

The truth is that dog insurance may come in handy for emergency situations, but if you purchase a pet insurance policy that is comprehensive, it will also include such things as teeth cleaning, vaccinations, spay/neutering expenses, and annual wellness exams. The savings of these expenses over the lifetime of your dog can really add up.

Shop around and do some comparisons between at least two or three companies before purchasing the dog insurance. Your dog insurance comparison should include more than just the rates because you are also looking for value. You need great coverage at a low price. Be sure to ask for discounts that you qualify for.
